Cartoonists from Goa to Jammu to Receive Awards
Raipur, June 5, 2026: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Cartoon Watch magazine, in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board, organized its annual All-India Cartoon Contest. Editor of Cartoon Watch, Triambak Sharma, stated in a press release that this competition has become one of the longest-running cartoon contests in India. Every year, the contest is organized around the theme announced by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). This year’s UNEP theme is “Now for Climate.”

Mr. Sharma said that cartoonists from across the country eagerly await this competition, and participants of all age groups enthusiastically take part in it. This year, the largest number of entries focused on climate change and rising temperatures. Many cartoonists also depicted the Earth burning like the Sun and illustrated warning signals being sent by the planet. Several participants linked increasing heat to war, while others highlighted the growing use of air conditioners in households.

The winners were announced on the eve of World Environment Day. The First Prize of ₹10,000 was shared by S. V. Ramana of Hyderabad and Manoj Chopra of Jammu. The Second Prize of ₹7,000 was jointly awarded to Varchasvi of Hyderabad and Debashish of Odisha. The Third Prize of ₹5,000 was shared by Anoop of Kerala and Colonel Ramesh of Raipur.
Twenty participants received Consolation Prizes of ₹1,000 each. The winners are:

Mr. Sharma further informed that an exhibition of the selected cartoons will be organized on June 5, 2026, alongside the official programme of the Chhattisgarh State Environment Conservation Board. Prize money will be transferred online to all winners within a week, and a special issue of Cartoon Watch featuring the selected cartoons will also be published.
